This is an overview of the ways SVi can get you what you want and save you money.

Our Experience
[Back]
SVi have many years experience in importing and compliancing of Japanese motor vehicles. The success of the business is due to the way that clients are treated by SVi and the honesty in dealing with them.

To achieve the best result for you it is crucial that you are totally honest with SVi so that we may accurately source a vehicle for you.
We can and will be happy to provide pages of references.

SVi offer insurance, parts and service contacts.

SVi can assist by arranging services like alarms, immobilisers, after-market wheels etc. at our group trade discounted price, saving clients significant amounts of money.

SVi offer insurance contacts for clients as part of our consulting service.

Auction Grades [Back]
Vehicles usually have an auction graded description which is very accurate (typically Japanese), as follows:
  Auction Grade Description

6
Almost new, next to no kilometres and late model

5
Is like new but with some kilometres, still late models only

4.5
Would be an exceptionally good car, up to 5 years old

4
Would be a really nice original car and better than average

3.5
Cars are still very good as are auction grade 3, but need our close inspection in Japan

2.5
Grade cars are not really good and so on down to 0
Gradings are affected by year, kilometres and condition.

Vehicles which have had significant accident damage are always auction grade 0, A or R, depending on the auction.

Cars can still have a guard, bumper or similar replaced and keep a good grading but if inner panels are affected they become O, A or R.

Options and Accessories
[Back]

Most Japanese cars are fully optioned, with air conditioning, power windows, power steering, central locks, sound system, carpets, etc.

Sound systems are rarely stolen; however they are not covered by insurance. Very few vehicles sustain any damage at all and the vehicle can be insured in transit for about $100.00.

Most vehicles have done comparatively low kilometres, you may notice that other vehicles in retail outlets show less consistently...you can guess the rest.

Some vehicles come with logbooks and some do not.

The auctions sheets should indicate the real kilometres.

The deregistration papers will guarantee clear title (not stolen).

We rarely have any significant discrepancy between descriptions and delivered vehicles. We have genuine safe guards in place but the key issue is that the Japanese dealers we deal through would never jeopardise our custom as we spend too much with them.

We have a genuine guarantee which covers you if there is a discrepancy.

Consultation
[Back]
We usually save buyers between $3500 and $15000 depending on the value of the vehicle purchased.

We will charge only the consulting fee of:

• $1650 including GST for vehicles under $30,000;

• $2,200 including GST for vehicles over $30,000; and,

• $3,300 including GST for vehicles over $45,000.

Other legitimate costs are passed on to the buyer at cost. Any savings will be passed on to the purchaser in the same manner.

Our Process
[Back]
The consultant agrees to try to find a vehicle suitable for the purchaser. If, after 90 days no suitable car is found the purchaser will have the deposit refunded in full or SVi will be prepared to continue the search if instructed to do so.

The purchaser signs an agreement and pays half the consulting fee at that point.

The purchaser is offered vehicles according to their desired criteria via the consultant. Various inspections and reports are then arranged without delay.

The purchaser may agree to buy a vehicle from Japan if a suitable vehicle is found. The purchaser has the right to buy or not up until this point, but not after.

The purchaser pays the car cost to either the SVi trust account or the purchaser pays the money to the dealer in Japan with SVI 's assistance. The exchange rate on the day will dictate the actual amount transferred. Any paperwork SVi forward for signing must be returned by overnight mail to avoid costly delays. This is very important!

The dealer in Japan will ship the vehicle to Brisbane port unless otherwise stated by SVi.

The consultant will assist the purchaser with all relevant import paperwork. SVi do all the applications and make the arrangements on your behalf.

Customs and Import Process
[Back]
Normally, the vehicle will arrive in Brisbane where customs clearances and quarantine inspections are arranged.

The Department of Transport and Road Safety issue an import approval - SVi arrange this as well.

The purchaser will pay the customs agent or SVi all fees, taxes and duties relevant to the importation of the vehicle prior to the vehicle being trucked to the compliance centre.

The complier will modify the vehicle to the relevant Australian Design Rules and fit the Australian compliance plate. The customer will pay the compliance company or SVi for their work prior to release.

The customer will pay the consultant the final balance.

The car may be picked up or trucked interstate if required. SVI may assist to get the best trade rate for the client.

Other services may be arranged at trade price ie. tyres, wheels, alarms and kits etc...

If the customer needs help to register the car the consultant may, at their discretion, assist the purchaser to achieve this.
